60 Years of Delicious Tradition

Commemorative Imo’s Pizza box celebrating 60th Anniversary designed by local artist Dan Zettwoch delights fans.

Six decades ago, a culinary legend was born in the heart of St. Louis, forever changing the pizza landscape.

In 1964, Ed and Margie Imo opened the doors to their first Imo’s Pizza Parlor, introducing locals to their iconic St. Louis-style pizza—a creation that would become known as The Square Beyond Compare®. Fast forward to today, Imo’s Pizza boasts 98 locations across Missouri, Illinois, and Kansas, continuing to delight generations of pizza lovers with its unique flavor and timeless appeal.

As Imo’s Pizza celebrates its 60th anniversary, the company is pulling out all the stops to commemorate this momentous occasion. To mark the milestone, Imo’s has partnered with acclaimed St. Louis artist and lifelong Imo’s fan, Dan Zettwoch, to create a commemorative pizza box that pays homage to the brand’s humble beginnings.

In addition to the specially designed pizza box, Imo’s will be rolling out a series of special offers and promotions throughout the year, giving back to the community that has supported them for six decades. The first special of the year is a nod to the company’s founding year – a two-topping, 16-inch pizza for just $19.64 that celebrates the Original St. Louis Style Pizza and the year of the company’s founding.

To complement the anniversary celebrations, Imo’s will be launching new 30-second television spots, highlighting the brand’s rich history and enduring popularity. These spots serve as a tribute to Imo’s loyal fans and their role in shaping the company’s success over the past 60 years.

A Message from Imo’s Marketing Director

Nichole Carpenter, Director of Marketing for Imo’s Pizza, expressed gratitude for the community’s support, stating, “It’s our birthday but the celebration is all about our loyal fans. Imo’s is a part of St. Louis history, and we’re excited to honor the community that has supported us all these years. As a St. Louis company, it was important that we worked with a local artist to create a unique pizza box that captured our roots. We love what Dan created, and we are looking forward to celebrating our 60th all year long!”

Reflections from the Artist

Dan Zettwoch, the artist behind the commemorative pizza box, shared his enthusiasm for the project, saying, “As I was researching this project, I loved making connections about the contemporary mid-60s history and design in St. Louis. Imo’s is a part of our city’s rich history, and I was honored to create a box for my favorite pizza!”
